Presence Beads: a loop of coral-orange oval beads with a fine silver chain tassel, resting on natural linen beside eucalyptus

Presence Beads

Something to hold when you come back to yourself.

Warm coral beads on a simple loop, finished with a fine silver tassel. Every bead has a name. There is one for each of the Six Pillars and one for each of the eighteen exercises in Come Home to Yourself, so the whole course fits in the palm of your hand.

Keep them in your pocket, on your desk, or beside your bed. When the day pulls you away, move from bead to bead with a slow breath and say each bead's words quietly to yourself.

A Name for Every Bead

How to use your Presence Beads

Begin at the silver tassel and say, “I am here.” Move to the single bead above it and take one slow breath in and out. Then enter the loop. Starting from the tassel, every fourth bead is one of the six pillar beads, and each pillar bead is followed by three beads named for that week’s exercises. Hold each bead for one breath and say its words. When you return to the start, you have walked through the whole course.

Pillar Bead 1

Presence

Doorway. I arrive where I am.
Sound. I listen to what is around me.
Slow. I do one thing slowly.

Pillar Bead 2

Connection

Plain. I say what is true, simply.
Thanks. I remember who has helped me.
Listen. I hear before I answer.

Pillar Bead 3

Embodiment

Check In. How is my body right now?
Ease. I find where I feel at ease.
Ground. My feet are on the earth.

Pillar Bead 4

Emotional Freedom

Notice. I notice what I feel.
Kindness. I am gentle with the part of me that reacts.
Name It. I name it, then I breathe.

Pillar Bead 5

Resilience

Plan. I know what to do on a hard day.
Restore. I choose what restores me.
Smaller. I can make this smaller.

Pillar Bead 6

Purpose

Values. I know what matters to me.
Letter. I am becoming who I want to be.
Reset. I can always begin again.
