Meet Maya

From the film set to the therapy room.

I've spent 25+ years sitting with individuals and couples through their hardest and most hopeful moments — blending clinical psychology with mindfulness, breath, and the body's own wisdom.

Licensed MFT · California #MFC39640

I'm Maya.

I've been sitting across from people in this chair for more than 25 years now — individuals and couples working through anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship and intimacy struggles, negative patterns that won't let go, and the life transitions that shake everything loose. I see clients by secure telehealth video, anywhere in California. Wherever you're starting from, I'd genuinely like to hear it.

In Her Own Words

This wasn't the plan — but it was the path.

I grew up in an entertainment industry family, and for eight years I worked in film and television myself before I ever sat in a therapist's chair as anything other than a client. I loved that world, but what I loved most about it — watching people, really watching them, the way a face changes right before someone tells the truth — turned out to be the same thing that eventually pulled me into this work. Film taught me to notice what's underneath the performance. Therapy became the place I could actually do something with what I noticed.

I went back to school and earned my master's from Antioch University in 2000. A few years later, in 2003, I trained as a yoga instructor at Maha Yoga in Brentwood — not as a side credential, but because I kept seeing how much of what my clients carried lived in their bodies, not just their thoughts. In 2006 I became a Certified Integrative Body Psychotherapist. Put together, that's the way I actually work: mind and body, talked-through and felt-through, not one or the other.

I work in English and in Spanish. I see individuals, couples, and groups, and my practice has always been LGBTQ+ affirming. I draw from a wide range of approaches — Cognitive Behavioral, Existential, Gestalt, Humanistic, Interpersonal, Mindfulness-Based, Psychodynamic, Relational, Somatic, Transpersonal — because no two people I've ever sat with needed exactly the same thing from me.
